TYR Swim Set of the Week – September 12, 2013

by Haley on September 12, 2013

There are some VERY good reasons my weekend trip to Dallas turned into a TWO WEEK stay!

First, my family is awesome and I didn’t want to leave. And thankfully, they must like me too, because despite my ability to get bike grease EVERYWHERE, they didn’t kick me out!

Second, I got to exercise with some really cool people in Dallas. Including some ridiculously fast and friendly swimmers from the Dallas Area Masters team and my high school friend Nate, who is doing his first Ironman in Cozumel this year!

Third, I landed a life-changing bike fit with the legendary John Cobb and his amazing Cobb Cycling Crew in Tyler, Texas. (Full report on the fit coming soon!) The bike fit was so much more than I expected, and even included a dip in what has to be one of the world’s most beautiful pools!

Fourth, Surprise! I got a Kona slot! Thank GOD my super-organized mom was on hand to calmly help me plan a last minute trip to the Big Island!

But by far, the biggest highlight of my trip to Texas was getting to celebrate my sister Hannah’s 24th birthday! The big day came complete with the most delicious key lime pie birthday “cake,” a chick flick at the local movie theater, and a birthday swim!

The swim set was written as 2500 meters, but as Hannah pointed out, if it’s your 24th birthday, you’re allowed to stop after just 2400! Try it out, and I hope your next vacation is as much of a fun adventure as mine!
